A MAN found dead at his Wrexham flat had a long history of drug problems, an inquest heard.
Christopher Malcolm Williams was inclined to sleep rough and was reluctant to accept help, although his nephew told him he should admit himself to hospital.
Nephew Steven Williams visited him weekly when he found a placement at shared accommodation in Pen-y-Bryn, bringing him groceries and giving him cash to help him out.
The Wrexham hearing was told the 49-year-old was found dead on June 30 and there was evidence of drug track marks in his thighs.
His nephew said: “His addictions marred his life which was chaotic and his decisions were guided by those addictions.”
Support worker Kelly Honeyman said in a statement that she tried to get a medical appointment for Mr Williams two days before his death, but found drug-used spoons around his room.
The cause of death was recorded as bronchial pneumonia due to Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD).
John Gittins, coroner for North Wales East and Central, concluded the death was drug-related.
