SANTAS filled the streets of Mold for the town's annual festive fun run.

Mold Santa Dash saw between 150 and 250 charity champions don the portly present giver's attire to take on a 1.4 mile route around the town on Sunday morning.

Cllr Karen Hodgkinson, mayor of Mold, told the Leader: "It was fantastic. We had a great turnout which we were not expecting because of the weather.

"Everyone had a good time and I would like to thank everyone who came to make it such a good day.

"The money raised will go to my 'Save a Life, Make a Difference' appeal.

"The majority of the funds raised in my year are going to The Counselling Hub, Synergy which works with refugees, also the Dementia Cafe at the Daniel Owen Centre.

"We're very grateful for all the support and for the help of the volunteers."

Cllr Tim Maunders, deputy mayor, said: "The event was a credit to Mold once again.

"It went wonderfully considering the weather.

"It was lashing down but that didn't put people off, you just have to take it in your stride.

"Everyone was full of joy and took it in the right frame of mind."

Cllr Maunders also praised the hard work of volunteers who turned out to make the event happen.

He said: "We had many volunteers helping us and these events wouldn't happen without them - they are fantastic."

A 'Great Santa Warm-up' was held before the start of the run on the square with Emma Knox-Jones from Elite Dance and Fitness Studios.
