A PRISONER at HMP Berwyn in Wrexham has been charged with administering a noxious thing to a prison officer.
It follows allegations that an officer was chased with a squeezy bottle, said to contain urine and faeces.
David Algie, 33, who gave his current address as HMP Altcourse in Liverpool, appeared in the dock at North East Wales Magistrates’ Court at Mold.
He was charged that on April 26 at HMP Berwyn he unlawfully and maliciously administered to prison officer Jonathan Parsons a poison or other destructive or noxious thing, namely urine and faeces, with intent to injure, aggrieve or annoy him.
Defending solicitor Peter Casson said that the allegations were not accepted and told the court that the defence case was that the bottle contained a mixture of water and a tea bag.
District Judge Gwyn Jones remanded Algie in custody to appear at a plea and case management hearing at Mold Crown Court in the New Year.
