A JUDGE has warned of the dangers of taking drugs.

District judge Gwyn Jones said some people thought taking drugs was normal but it was not and had significant consequences.

The judge fined teenager Max Andrew Powell £300 for possessing cocaine, a class A drug.

Powell, 19, of Robin Hill, Wern Road in Rhosesmor, near Mold, admitted possessing the drug in Regent Street, Wrexham, on August 25.

North East Wales Magistrates Court heard how police were informed when two men were seen sharing a white powder which turned out to be cocaine.

Powell wrote a letter to the Mold court which the judge said was a very fair letter and reflected how he felt and how stupid he had been.

A destruction order was made and Powell, said to be in full-time employment, was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge.
