A HYGIENIST from Wrexham has won a national award.

Amanda Evans, from Wrexham, has won an award recognising her as the UK’s Hygienist of the Year.

Ms Evans, who works at mydentist Kandy Lodge, Wrexham, received the trophy at the recent Oral Health Awards, which were held in London.

Judges were impressed by the nomination Amanda’s colleagues put forward, detailing the lengths she goes to in making patients across the region get the best possible care.

Passionate about oral health education, Amanda also organises events in local schools to teach kids how to brush and to encourage them to make good decisions for their own oral health.

Amanda said: “It was a big surprise to be nominated for the award and I’m thrilled to have won. It feels fantastic to have been recognised by the industry.”

The award is Amanda’s second this year after she was also chosen as hygienist of the year by mydentist in its own Excellence Awards.

Steve Melton, mydentist managing director, said: “Amanda is a fantastic example of someone who is truly leading the way in patient care. There are endless examples of when she has given up her own time to see patients and improve their oral health.

“Not only that but she is passionate about educating and mentoring other members of the team.

“Everyone at mydentist thinks she is hugely deserving of the title and we are really pleased for her.”

Amanda offers hygiene and teeth whitening appointments daily at mydentist, Kandy Lodge, Ruabon, Wrexham.
