SANTA and his friends took to the streets of Connah's Quay to visit residents for the return of the Christmas Float.

Locals arrived at the Morrisons car park on Tuesday evening to meet Father Christmas and watch him set off on his journey around the area.

The annual float was organised by the Deeside Round Table, which is part of a national organisation aiming to raise money for local causes.

Jarrod Rawlinson, chair of the group, said: "It was a great night. We covered a lot of ground and will be returning again.

"There were loads of smiling faces and excited children, it's lovely to see. It bring a lot of joy to people and it is good fun for us."

The float started in Saltney on November 24 and aims to travel to various areas in and around Deeside, having raised over £1,500 so far.

Festive music was played and children had the opportunity to meet Santa who also took the time to pose for photographs, before moving on to the next street.

The team of volunteers were also aiming to raise money to put in their pot which will then be distributed back out to local organisations and charities.

Jarrod added: "We couldn't do it without our volunteers and we do try to encourage more people to get involved. We enjoy doing it, it's great fun and we raise a lot of money.

"It's a nice tradition that should continue."

The Christmas float has become an annual tradition over the past three decades and Jarrod said he will continue bringing it to his local community for as long as they can.
