A TOWN was brimming with dashing red figures during the annual Santa run this weekend.

Buckley Town Council once again held their festive Santa Dash, which saw dozens of Santa suit-clad runners jogging through the town.

Local martial arts centre Seishin Ryu Jujitsu started off the run with a warm-up at 2pm in the town centre, where crowds of children and adults gathered to take part in the community event.

Registration rules provided runners with a full Santa suit, and those who participated last year had a discounted entry price for their loyalty.

All funds raised were donated to the mayor's chosen charities this year, which Cllr David dedicated support to Marie Curie Nurses, the Alzheimer's Society, and Stroke Services. This summer, the mayor skydived 15,000ft in Lancaster to raise funds for these causes.

Cllr Martyn Teire, involved with the local plea of Buckley boy Jenson Edwards, aged six, who is suffering from Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and who has had a running group set up in his name, said: "It was lovely to see the community coming together and it was great to see the youngsters having fun and getting involved with running."

The mayor said the event was well attended and that he is looking forward to next year's festive dash through the town.
