SANTA Claus himself - or possibly one of his stand-ins - will make an appearance at the Hoole Christmas lights switch-on this year.

The popular event will take place on Saturday, November 24, in Faulkner Street and Charles Street, with family activities held at Hoole Community Centre on Westminster Road.

The Christmas fun starts at 4.30pm and local choirs, bands and bell ringers will be joined by Chester’s Dee106.3 team to provide entertainment for families.

Children are invited to join the lantern parade at 6pm, when Santa will be joined by special guest, Lord Mayor of Chester Cllr Alex Black, to switch on the Christmas lights for 2018.

Hoole Community Centre will be open from 4pm to 7.30pm where children can visit Father Christmas in his grotto and take part in Christmas games and crafts. Food and refreshments, including mulled wine for parents, will also be available.

Chair of Hoole Christmas Lights community group, Linda Hobbs, said:“This year’s Christmas lights switch on is a return to the original format and the celebrations are more family-focused.

"Local traders and the community group have worked non-stop to make the event happen, so please come along and share the evening with your family, friends and your community. We look forward to seeing you all there.”
