TNS boss Scott Ruscoe insists he just wants his side to seal a fifth straight Nathaniel MG League Cup final spot against minnows Cambrian & Clydach Vale Boys and Girls Club on Friday.

Ruscoe takes his side to the Rhondda Valley off the back of a first win four league games at Barry Town United on Saturday, knowing that any victory will put them through to the final.

He says Saints will do their homework on their Welsh Football League Division One rivals and insists the performance will be just as important as the scoreline if his side make it through.

“You don’t always have to win by six or seven; we totally dominated at the weekend and still only scored two”, said the TNS boss.

“It doesn’t matter about the result on Friday, I just want to get through to the final and if that’s with a 1-0 or a 2-0, and good performances, then great.

“I’ve spoken to managers from teams in that league, including Rhys Griffiths at Pen Y Bont to get some good information and we’ll make sure we’re well-planned looking ahead.

“Ultimately, I’ll be picking a strong side [to avoid defeat to a lower-league team]. It’s about getting to that final but we can’t go and play really well like we did at the weekend and then get beat.

“We’ll make sure the players will be aware of that. We’re naming a strong side but that might include a few changes.

“But whatever changes we make it will still be as strong as the players that are coming out of the team.

“But to be clear, I am picking a side to win the game and get us through to the final, not just to give players minutes.”

Saints’ semi-final clash at Cambrian & Clydach kicks off at 7.35pm and will be settled on the night.
