PRESTATYN Town Reserves striker Matty Griffiths put on a show in-front of first team manager Neil Gibson in their 8-0 home victory over Llangefni Town Reserves.

The recent signing from Meliden fired in his second treble in as many games to enhance is chances of a senior squad selection ahead of the Seasiders’ tricky trip to in-form Bangor City on Friday evening as they return to Huws Gray Alliance action following a weekend off (7.30pm).

The home side went ahead of 13 minutes when Griffiths despatched a chance after good work from Macauley Taylor, and the same player was on hand to double their cushion straight from the kick-off with a powerful half volley.

Sam Warhurst gave the Seasiders’ a three-goal advantage at the break when he diverted in from close range on 42 minutes, with Griffiths rounding off another composed display with his hat-trick from the penalty spot with 62 gone.

The floodgates now opened which resulted in further goals for the home side, with Taylor, Sam Duffy (2) and Aaron White all finding the target in the final quarter of the contest to complete the rout.

Reserve team coach Aaron Evans, said: “It was a great workout for the boys and you really saw glimpses of their talent and the way they are learning the processes and formation.

“We asked them to press hard at certain times and to play a certain way, so it is just a job of making sure they understand what we are asking of them and they are doing that slowly which you saw in the result.

“A lot of the young lads are now understanding what Gibbo wants, some have worked under him before and he demands high standards not only of those playing but of the coaching staff too.

“They are taking it all on board and I thought Matty was tremendous. The biggest thing with him is confidence but if he keeps performing and putting away chances then it gives everyone a headache and the competition for places is paramount as it pushes everyone to get better.”
