DENBIGH Development finally secured their first win of the Vale of Clwyd and Conwy League Division One season with a 2-1 home victory over Rhuddlan Town Reserves.
The current basement dwellers turned in a fine display to pick up an elusive three points which closes the gap on those around them, but despite the eventual result it was the away side who began the brighter and they went ahead on the half hour mark when Kyle Pritchard converted a chance following a prolonged period of possession.
After the break saw the home side come out with a renewed sense of purpose, and they managed to get back on level terms on 65 minutes when Ashley Andrews found the net, and things got even better soon after when Liam Jones put them ahead to seal their triumph with 76 gone.
All-conquering leaders Llanelwy Athletic turned on the style once again to come away from their clash with Llanfairfechan Town Reserves with a thumping 8-0 home win.
Ash Hughes was in ruthless form throughout the rout and netted a hat-trick as a result of his efforts, with James Burke (2), Matty Lewis, Dan Price and Tommy Montgomery also on target for the long-time leaders, who now enjoy a ten-point cushion at the summit.
St Asaph City Reserves also picked up a positive result as they came from behind to secure a 1-1 home draw with Rhos United.
Things did not begin well for the Saints and they fell behind on four minutes courtesy of a Chris King strike, but the hosts picked themselves up in the second period and secured a share of the spoils thanks to a Matty Williams equaliser with three minutes remaining.
