A PUBLIC meeting will outline plans for the future management of an international heritage attraction.

Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins and Weston Rhyn Local Joint Committee area (including Hengoed, Brogynton and Pant Glas) is encouraging residents to attend the public resident meeting on plans for Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site.

The meeting will be held at All Saints Church Hall, Old Chirk Road, Gobowen at 7pm on Thursday, November 22.

This meeting will see key updates on future management plans for the Pontcysyllte World Heritage Site ahead of its 10-year inscription anniversary next year.

There will be an update from Allan Forrest, the site's regeneration project manager, Wrexham County Council and Dave Shiel, senior AONB officer, from Denbighshire Council along with Nicola Lewis Smith from Canal and River Trust.

As well as key agenda items, the area meeting offers an opportunity for residents to raise issues that matter most to them and their area and to hear more from local stakeholders on projects developing in the area.

This will include the latest from those providers commissioned to deliver youth activities ahead the new year, any safety issues you wish to raise with your West Mercia Police, update from Three Parishes Big Local and will welcome Clare Fildes to update on the Shropshire Great Outdoors Strategy.

Members of the community will have the opportunity to raise any questions or concerns that they may have for the area in which they live.

The meetings are overseen by a panel of councillors from parish councils and Shropshire Council.

Shropshire Councillor, Robert Macey, chairman of the Gobowen, Selattyn, St Martins and Weston Rhyn LJC said: “The area recognizes the value of this special World Heritage Site to this cross-border area, particularly with Chirk Bank being one the gateways to this unique site.

"It is important to encourage residents to this meeting to hear how they engage with this area and to hear the latest work and projects coming forward around the site, which offer opportunities to residents, local community groups and businesses.

"We hope residents of all ages, young and older, along with key stakeholders interested in this tourism asset and the great outdoors will attend to hear more. This promises to be a real chance for the community to feed their comments to us as local members, parish councillors and representatives. If the local visitor economy is important to you, we hope that you will attend.”

The meeting will start at 7pm and further information can be obtained from Corrie Davies, of Shropshire Council's community enablement team, on 01743 250 307 - or visit www.shropshire.gov.uk
