Santa and snow dazzled huge crowds at the Christmas lights switch-on event in Chester on Friday night.
Thousands of people were in the city centre to catch a glimpse of Father Christmas and enjoy the festive party.
Community groups, artists and friendly elves were involved to kick-start the celebrations - in a change from the traditional Thursday night slot.

The theme was '12 Days of Christmas' following the success of previous years, which saw local musicians, actors and children involved with a live brass band leading the procession and singing Christmas carols along the way.
The parade started at Town Hall Square and proceeded to wind its way through the city centre.

The event was funded by the city's Business Improvement District – CH1ChesterBID – in partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council.
