A MEMORIAL stone unveiled in a Flintshire village has been well received by the community.

Following the Remembrance Sunday service at St Cecilia’s Church in Mynydd Isa, the new stone was unveiled in the memorial garden.

Etched onto the stone, which has been provided by Argoed Community Council, is a silent soldier silhouette as well as poems by Hedd Wyn and Rupert Brooke.

A spokesman for the community council said: “It was very well received by the community and they were very happy that they’re able to have somewhere to commemorate and have time with their thoughts.

“We had about 50 people attending on Remembrance Sunday which is a good turnout for a small community.

“Canon Pamela Powell did the blessing and it was a very poignant moment.”

The stone has will be placed in memory of those who gave their lives in both World Wars, as well as conflicts thereafter.
