A WREXHAM man has been shortlisted for 'Young Tourism Person of the Year'.

Sam Foulkes, managing director at Cyclone Events, a Wrexham based event management and planning business, has been shortlisted for the category at the Go North Wales Tourism Awards in Llandudno next week.

He is 25 years old and founded Cyclone Events with his step-father Stewart Bassett just two years ago with the aim of boosting tourism in north Wales and mainly focusing on his home townWrexham. The company has grown from strength to strength has already welcomed more than 30,000 visitors to the area, attending their various events.

This award category recognises young entrepreneurial, professional and business talent that North Wales has to offer.

It rewards those aged 35 and under who are setting the pace in business.

Festivals already planned across north Wales for 2019 include:-

-Rock the Park music festival which attracts around 15,000 people per year

- North Wales Prosecco and Gin festivals

- Rum and Reggae festivals

- Oktoberfest

- 'Day of the Dead' festivals.

Sam said: "The response we are getting for all of our events is just incredible and beyond anything we could have dreamed of when we started Cyclone Events.

"I am really grateful for the support we are getting. I'm really looking forward to the awards next week, I'm just thrilled to have been nominated and to win would be just be incredible especially with all the hard work that goes into these events, regardless of the outcome I think this is a great achievement for myself and my business which has achieved so much in just two years.

Back for a third year, the Go North Wales Tourism Awards will be taking place on Thursday, November 15 at Venue Cymru, Llandudno.

The purpose of the awards is to celebrate and recognise excellence in the region’s hospitality and tourism sectors.

The awards will showcase and celebrate the achievements, hard work and dedication of those working in the industry.
