A MOTORIST was caught out when traces of cocaine were found in his body several days after he took the drug at his brother’s stag night, a court heard.
Stuart Morton admitted drug driving in Shotton on August 8 when he appeared before North East Wales Magistrates Court.
Morton was pulled over by police for speeding on Chester Road East and a roadside drug swipe proved positive.
At the police station a blood test showed he had consumed 282mcg of benzoylecgonine when the legal limit is 50.
Morton, 39, of Princes Street, Connah’s Quay was banned from driving for a year and fined £120 with court costs of £95 and a victim surcharge of £30.
Melissa Grifffiths, defending, told the Mold court Morton had taken a small amount of cocaine while attending the stag do in Liverpool.
“He was completely unaware that there was a trace of the drug in his system,” she said.
