A BRACE from new signing Gary Taylor-Fletcher was not enough to prevent Llandudno from falling to a 4-2 home loss to Bala Town United.

Despite another spirited display from the struggling JD Welsh Premier League side they had nothing to show for their efforts after a number of defensive errors, and Iwan Williams’ men face a crunch clash next Saturday when they host Carmarthen Town (2.30pm).

The home side started the game on the front foot and almost wet ahead on five minutes when Matty Williams was thwarted by a superb last-ditch tackle, and Town stopper Ashley Morris had to be at his best to deny Toby Jones soon after.

Taylor-Fletcher went close on two occasions on nine and 17 minutes during an impressive spell of dominance from the hosts, but a crucial slip from midfielder Dany Hughes presented a chance to Steven Tames at the other end, and he made no mistake with the finish to open the scoring with 22 on the clock.

Things almost got worse for the home side just before the break when Chris Venables’ effort was brilliantly kept out by Shaun Pearson, and Tudno forward John Owen somehow missed the target from six yards out with a minute remaining of the first period.

After the interval saw the hosts get back on level terms on 52 minutes when Taylor-Fletcher finished well after good work from Williams, but this joy proved to be short-lived as the Lakesiders’ regained their advantage almost instantly when Tames volleyed in his second of the evening on 54.

Playmaker Henry Jones piled further misery on the home side with a stunning strike from outside the area to double their advantage on 58 minutes, and their defeat was confirmed after 77 when Venables took advantage of another mistake to secure a fourth.

Taylor-Fletcher marked his debut with a second a minute from time, but it proved to be merely a consolation in regards to the overall outcome.
