A SPOOKY house display has won the heart of the town mayor in an annual Halloween competition.

Paula Thomas, of Dewi Avenue, Holywell, won the town council's Scary Scarecrow competition for the second year running.

Paula said: "My little boy, aged six, is really excited. I wasn't planning on entering this year after winning last year but he pestered me all day so I eventually gave in an posted the pictures to the town council page on Wednesday evening.

"We made the big ghost the day before and then me him and one of my daughters spent an hour or two putting it all together Wednesday afternoon. My children are always asking what are we doing this year - the neighbours and trick or treaters all take pictures of the display."

Despite the interesting visuals of the eerie front garden, Paula said she will take it down soon, pending on the weather as she doesn't want debris littering the street if the wind picks up.

Town mayor Cllr Rosetta Dolphin, who judged the competition said a big "well done" to Paula.

Cllr Dolphin said: "It's been very good this year and we had a good reaction to it, it's brilliant. Paula has done well - it was very scary. Thank you to everybody who joined in the fun. Hopefully we will have some more next year and we will be encouraging more people to take part."
