PLANS for a solar array at a water pumping station look set to be approved.
An application received by Flintshire Council in September requested permission to install a roof-mounted solar array at a Welsh Water pumping station in Church Lane, Aston.
The authority’s planning committee make a decision tomorrow.
A report to committee members recommends they grant permission for the scheme.
According to the report, 12 letters of objection were received which raised issues such as the development being in close proximity to properties, potential issues with reflection into adjacent windows, the scale of the panels and more. Hawarden Community Council also objected on the grounds of the impact on residents’ health, visual impact on the area and proximity to Hawarden Airport with the effect of glare to air traffic.
The report says: “The solar array will cover a large area and will be placed upon the grass roof of the tanks.
“AIRBUS have been consulted in the interests of establishing whether the proposals would give rise to adverse effects upon Aerodrome
“It is considered that the proposals will have a positive benefit upon the environment and are thus to be welcomed.”
