BANGOR City turned in a rampant display to come away with a thumping 9-0 win over Llanrhaeadr-ym-Mochant.

The Citizens were at their ruthless best to seal their third consecutive victory since the departure of manager Craig Harrison, and director of football Stephen Vaughan Jnr will be hoping for more of the same this Saturday when his side host Cefn Albion in the JD Welsh Cup third round.

The home side wasted no time in making an impact on proceedings as recent signing Jordan Piggott opened the scoring after just six minutes, and they doubled their advantage when Jake Philips converted an opportunity with 16 gone.

Alex Darlington enjoyed a profitable afternoon and he notched his first of the afternoon on 27 minutes, and City all-bur secured their victory after the interval when winger Jacob Farleigh rounded off an exceptional team move with their fourth after 51.

This result in even more success in front of goal soon after as Darlington steered home his second of the tie on 65 minutes, and another impressive spell of possession resulted in striker Marc Williams producing a neat finish for a sixth with 71 on the clock.

The floodgates were now well and truly open and Darlington was the beneficiary of yet more outstanding build-up play to secure his hat-trick on 76 minutes, and the versatile forward rounded off a superb individual display with his fourth of the contest after 81.

There was still time for the hosts to rub further salt into the visitors’ wounds, and substitute Robbie Parry broke clear and found the corner in the closing stages to complete a scintillating attacking display from the home side.

The result leaves Vaugahn Jnr’s men in fourth position, two points behind Flint Town United and 14 adrift of runaway leaders Airbus Broughton with a game in hand.
