RHYL and District Rugby Club are seeking votes to secure vital funding from a supermarket initiative.

The Dragons’ Rugby in the Community programme is bidding to bag a massive cash boost from the Tesco Bags of Help scheme, which aims to help worthy causes in the region from sales of their plastic bags under recent legislation from the Welsh Government.

Voting will take place at Tesco’s Prestatyn Store from Thursday November 1 and will end on New Year’s Eve.

Gareth John, Rhyl and District’s Mini and Junior section chair, said: “Please vote for Rhyl Rugby Club as we are already doing a fantastic job reaching out to the community.

“There will be two other projects vying for the funding, but the project with the highest number of votes in store will receive £4,000.

“So, I would ask all supporters to get shopping in Tesco’s, Prestatyn and vote for ‘Rhyl Rugby in the Community’.

“This funding will help us buy new equipment to help engage more young people of all different ages, backgrounds and abilities in becoming healthy and active in Rhyl and Prestatyn.”

The Dragons run a number of youth sides across varying age groups with a view to boosting participation and engagement within the community, with many of the current first team squad coming through the ranks at the club.
