A WALKING group is encouraging more people to get involved this winter.

The Deeside Ramblers group has published its schedule for the next couple of months with a range of walks to suit all needs.

The first walk will take place at 10am on November 3 meeting at A Path and a Way, Rhuallt (9miles) and a shorter walk will take place on November 18 at 10am, meeting at Loggerheads Country Park for six miles.

A spokesman for the group said: “Walking is an easy, affordable and sociable form of exercise that can help you stay healthy, keep happy, enjoy time with friends and family or meet new people – all the while discovering new places right on your doorstep or exploring further afield.

“Regular, brisk walking also has endless health benefits. It helps to control weight, combat osteoarthritis, can dramatically cut diabetes and cardiovascular disease and can reduce the risk of certain types of cancer, just to name a few.”

December 1 at 10am walkers can meet at Llansannan at the village car park (8miles) and on December 29 at 10am people can meet at the Crooked Horn Inn, Brynford for a seven-mile walk.

The final scheduled walk will be at 10.30am on January 1, meeting at Tinkersdale car park in Hawarden (4.5miles).
