A WREXHAM school was magically transformed into Hogwarts for a day of fundraising wizardry.

St Christopher's School, which is the largest specialist school in Wales, held the spellbinding event to raise funds for a new school minibus, with both pupils and teachers fully immersing themselves into the spirit of J.K. Rowling's imaginative world.

The entrance to the school became the fabled Platform 9 3/4 with the doors being the embarkation point.

As well as the array of wonderful costumes, there were practical lessons in wizardry with extraordinary wand making masterclasses and the all important broomstick making seminars.

And of course, no Harry Potter themed event would be complete without a wise old owl with a real one being brought into the school by Owl Rescue Bryneglwys.

Ryan Hayes, who is one of the teachers at the school said the whole day was a wonderful experience for both the teachers and the children, with everyone fully immersing themselves into the experience.

He said: "I was replaced by Professor Moysen from the Ministry of Magic. He was defending us against the use of foul grammar and dark punctuation in ICT."

A spokesman for the school also paid tribute to everyone who took part in making the day so memorable and that it was the perfect way for the pupils to begin their half term break with it not clear who enjoyed it more, the children or the adults!
