LLANDUDNO advance to the SWALEC Plate third round with an emphatic 50-5 home romp over Maesteg Celtic.

The WRU National League Division One North leaders were at their brilliant best once gain to progress in the prestigious competition, and the Goats raced into an early lead thanks to early tries from Nick Dundee and skipper Dave Davies, one of which was converted by the former RGC Academy prospect.

Things got even better midway through the half with well-worked scores from Dan O’Sullivan and Kelvin Davies after a dominant spell of possession. Dundee added the extras to give them a comfortable cushion at the interval despite Jonathan Davies going over for the visitors late on.

After the break saw the hosts continue to turn on the style, with Byron Davies crossing the white wash after good work from Davies, and this was swiftly followed by a sensational individual run and touch down from the outstanding Oscar Lennon.

There was still time for yet another score late on, which came from a surging drive from the Goats’ pack and Lloyd Evans barged his way over. Dundee rounded off the scoring with the conversion attempt.

The in-form side are next in action on November 10 when they entertain Bala, with talisman Ryan Pike now in recovery after having a metal plate fitted to repair a broken jaw.

Nant Conwy were unable to replicate the Goats’ success during their disappointing 38-14 reverse at Cilfynydd, and Colwyn Bay bowed out of the SWALEC Bowl at the third round stage as they were downed 33-17 at RTB Ebbw Vale.
