BANGOR City have launched an audacious bid for two standout Huws Gray Alliance players.

The Chronicle understands that the Citizens have put in seven days’ notice in for Conwy Borough skipper Gerwyn Jones, in addition to prolific Ruthin Town striker Llyr Morris.

Stephan Vaughan Jnr’s side will now await permission to speak with both players once the period has concluded, with both playing a hugely influential role for their respective sides so far this season.

Morris, who turned down the chance to sign for a host of high-profile clubs during the summer, was the league’s top scorer last term to a further enhance his reputation as one of the brightest young finishers operating outside of the JD Welsh Premier League.

He has remained fiercely loyal to manager Chris Williams and it would take a huge offer to tempt the forward away from Town and to the VS Stadium.

Tangerines’ defender and captain Jones is another that has caught the eye so far this season thanks to a series of outstanding displays, something which saw him play a significant role in their treble-winning campaign last term.

The former Rhyl star recently won the Huws Gray Alliance Player of the Month Award, but he was taken off during the defeat at Prestatyn Town with suspected hernia.
