THE HILLS of North Wales will be alive with "The Sound of Music" theatre company brings the famous production to Mold.

Deeside-based Dee and Alyn Gilbert and Sullivan Society will perform the musical from Wednesday, October 31 to Saturday, November 3 at 7.30pm.

There will also be a matinee performance at 2.30pm on Saturday, November 3.

Based on the smash hit 1965 Hollywood blockbuster, the stage musical is filled with all the well known Rodgers and Hammerstein songs from the film including 'My Favourite Things', 'Do-Re-Mi', 'Edelweiss', 'So Long, Farewell' and 'Climb Every Mountain'.

Stepping into Julie Andrew's shoes to play the famous role of Maria, the novice Nun who captures the heart of the children and eventually their Father is Flintshire actress Josephine McHugh.

Most recently, Josephine, a professional vocal coach appeared in the sell out compilation show 'This Is My Musical' for Tip Top Productions at The Vanbrugh Theatre in Chester to critical acclaim.

Taking on the role of Captain Von Trapp will be local actor Michael Hetherington who is well known for his work with theatre companies across the North West and has appeared in many shows with the Dee and Alyn Gilbert and Sullivan Society over the years.

Speaking about the build up to opening night, Alison Williams, the chair of the society said: "We began rehearsals for The Sound of Music back in March and so we are all really excited to be bringing this fantastic show before an audience now.

"It really does have a very special place in the hearts of so many people and it has been a joy to work on.

"We can't wait for opening night, this will really be one production not to be missed."
