COLWYN Bay manager Craig Hogg urged his side to build on a positive result after they secured a 0-0 draw at Trafford.

The Seagulls responded from a heavy defeat to produce a much-assured defensive display to secure a share of the spoils, and the stalemate leaves Bay occupying 14th position and six points away from the top six as they prepare to enjoy a weekend off before they host Chasetown on November 3.

Hogg, said: “It was an important result for us. I accept We’ve played better in games this season and lost, but to keep a clean sheet and get a hard-earned point on the road was really pleasing.

“Trafford are good side with an excellent gaffer and some top players, I fully expect them to be pushing for promotion this season.

“There were some big performances from us with excellent debuts from Coughlin, Woods and White who all impressed, but Will Bell and Josh Brizell at the heart of defence were excellent and all game to.

“The aim now will be to build on this result moving forward and put some sort of positive run together in-terms of results, if we apply ourselves like I know we can then I feel we can achieve this.”

The visitors were good value for their point thanks in no small part to the performance of goalkeeper Andy Coughlin, a recent signing from Bangor City who pulled off a host of tremendous stops to keep his side in the contest throughout.

Bay had a chance to steal all three points at the death when Joe White set up Lassana Mendes with a fantastic opportunity late on, but former Seagulls stopper Matt Cooper thwarted the chance with a superb save to ensure both sides went home with something to show for their efforts.

"Andy has had a great debut, but I will go on record as saying that Paddy (Rutter) is going to be a top, top keeper”, added Hogg.

“He is only 21 which is a baby in goalkeeping terms and I feel very fortunate to now have two really good keepers vying for the jersey.”
