A COLEG Cambria staff member has been shortlisted for an annual award.

Tim Robinson, 53 from Flint, is Coleg Cambria’s technical assessor in aerospace and electrical engineering and he has achieved 100 per cent achievement rate since 2014.

He has been shortlisted for this year’s Apprenticeship Awards Cymru and will be competing to become work-based Assessor of the Year at the awards ceremony next month.

The annual awards are designed to showcase and celebrate the outstanding achievements of learners, employers, tutors and assessors who have excelled in contributing to the development of the Welsh Government’s Traineeships and Apprenticeship Programmes.

Vicky Barwis, Coleg Cambria’s director of work-based learning, said: “Tim’s commitment to his learners is exceptional and deserving of recognition.

“He is keen to set an example to his learners that learning is for life and even when they qualify there is always a need for continuous improvement.”

Tim has developed an aerospace hand-skills exercise has been used in WorldSkills heats and he has helped adapt an apprenticeship framework for Airbus UK, and developed a specialist electrical skills programme for Airbus learners.

Eluned Morgan, Minister for Welsh Language and Lifelong Learning said the awards showcase the success of the Welsh Government’s Apprenticeships and Traineeships Programmes.

She added: “Apprenticeships are a great way for individuals to gain valuable skills and experience while earning a wage and for employers to ensure their workforce has the skills to future proof a business.”

The ceremony will take place at the Celtic Manor Resort, Newport on November 9 where 30 employers, learners and learning providers from across Wales will be competing for the award.
