A VACANT nursery which has been targeted by vandals could be replaced by a small housing development.

Plans have been submitted which would see Scallywags Day Nursery in Pentre Maelor demolished, with seven new homes built in its place.

If successful, both three and four bedroom properties would be created on the site, which is on the edge of Wrexham Industrial Estate.

In a planning statement prepared by Blueprint Architects on behalf of Mr K West, who is behind the proposals, they said: “We have been approached by our client to seek the outline planning permission required for a proposed residential development.

“Our intial task was to survey the existing building to document the existing site layout for planning purposes.

“The vacant day nursery site has been subjected to vandalism; scattered contents of a storage building are over the site.

“Fences have also been damaged by vandals following the closure of the facility.

“The application site is deemed as a brownfield site following the closure of the day nursery.

“We feel this planning application should be look favourably upon as we feel there are no justifiable reasons for refusal.”

The proposals will be considered by Wrexham Council at a later date.
