WORKS to improve a town bus station have been welcomed.

Flintshire Council confirmed last week that the improvements at Mold Bus Station will include an upgrade of the bus shelters and other street furniture, as well as infrastructure.

The works began this week and are expected to take up to four weeks to complete.

Dave Hill, town centre manager for Mold, said: "Mold has strived in recent years to provide a quality environment for visitors.

"The bus station is an important hub for people travelling to and from the town.

"I am pleased that Flintshire Council have managed to secure Welsh Government funding to improve it as this is an important arrival point for the Mold."

Steve Jones, chief officer for streetscene and transportation at Flintshire Council, said: “Contractors will be using a phased approach to complete the works to each stand to ensure that disruption to services is kept to a minimum and to reduce any impact on the flow of traffic.

"The infrastructure and shelters have been funded through the Local Transport Fund grant received from Welsh Government.”
