THE North Wales Walled Towns Trail car run which features lovingly restored vehicles from yesteryear, is on this Sunday September 30.

This year's route is from Denbigh to Conwy to Beaumaris and finishes at Caernarfon.

There are record numbers of entrants this year, and there are competing cars from all over North Wales and the North West, from as far as Anglesey, Criccieth, Porthmadog, Derby, Stafford and Uttoxeter.

Taking part will be such cars as a 1931 Rolls Royce, some E-type Jaguars and British Classics from 1924. A total of 150 cars have entered this year.

The cars will run from Denbigh County Council offices at 8:45am, waved off by the Mayor of Denbigh. They will start leaving the Conwy County Council offices in Bodlondeb at 10.45 am, and will follow the route to the Green, in Beaumaris, where drivers will take a lunch break.

The final destination will be the Slate Quay car park under the walls of Caernarfon Castle. Judging will take place between 2.30 pm and 3pm.

Ioan Thomas, chairman of the North Wales Walled Towns Friendship Circle said: "Thanks to Paul Gillibanks at Conwy Council for organising the run.

“This year's event has sparked a lot more interest than previous years and we hope that local people will come to view the cars on Sunday and learn more about our motoring heritage.”
