A Rhostyllen man who smashed the wing mirror of a neighbour's car has been given a conditional discharge.

Carl Roberts banged on the victim's door at Trevor Avenue, Rhostyllen in the early hours. He started to smash his front wall with a hammer which he then used to break the wing mirror of the parked vehicle.

Wrexham Magistrates' Court was told Roberts made a full a full admission when he was arrested.

Roberts, 35, of Parkend Walk, Rhostyllen admitted criminal damage on August 11 this year.

Emily Jones, defending, said: "He deeply regrets his actions that day. It was a moment of madness and he has lost a number of friends in the community as a result of the incident.

"He has sent the victim a message on Facebook offering to pay back £500."

Magistrates handed Roberts a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered he pay £500 compensation as well as a victim surcharge of £20 and costs of £85.
