THOUSANDS of people turned out to enjoy a town's popular culinary event.

The 13th Mold Food and Drink Festival brought some of the very best exhibitors from across North Wales and the North West to the town over the weekend.

Celebrity Masterchef winner and author Lisa Faulkner, who used to appear in Chester-based soap Hollyoaks, headlined the cookery stage, whipping up treats including cherry financiers and a posh fish pie.

She was joined by Stephen Stevens from Anglesey’s Michelin-starred Sosban and The Old Butchers, as well as local chefs from across the region.

Live music, entertainment and a new cookery and science school for children completed the line-up.

Mold Food and Drink Festival chairman John Les Tomos said the festival had enjoyed a bumper year.

He explained: “The festival grows year-on-year and has something for everyone.

"The standard of food and drink being produced throughout the region is at an all-time high and that was evident by the number of exhibitors we had this year.

"There is a real hunger for good produce and our visitors clearly agree.

“We were also delighted to welcome Lisa to the festival and for her to share the stage with some of the finest chefs in North Wales, including the ever-popular Graham Tinsley and a host of new faces too.

"We’ll now start looking ahead to next year and delivering another feast of activities for visitors to Mold.”

Next year’s festival will be held on September 21 and 22.
