A FLINTSHIRE man has been jailed after breaching a restraining order.

Steven Godfrey Jones, of Bro Brwynog in Treuddyn, appeared at Mold Crown Court for sentencing after he had previously admitted breaching a restraining order.

The order, prosecutor Simon Rogers explained, was put in place earlier this year to prevent Jones, 42, from contacting his partner Karen Davies after he received a suspended sentence for possessing a bladed article.

Mr Rogers said on August 4 police were called to a suspected domestic incident in Treuddyn after reports of banging and shouting.

Officers went to the address, the home of Steven Jones, to find signs of a disturbance and Miss Davies in the hallway looking frightened and "almost cowering".

There was no sign of Jones who later returned to the home and admitted he had run because he knew he would be in breach of the restraining order. Jones confirmed they had been arguing.

Mark Connor, defending, told the court: "The defendant has effectively been in a relationship with Miss Davies for some time.

"He accepts breaching the order and he is sorry for that but it was, and still is, the intention of Miss Davies and him to apply to lift it.

"He has completed all classes that have been offered by the probation service, but he still has moments when he is unable to control his temper and behaviour.

"He accepts causing some disturbance in his own home, with his own property.

"The defendant has suffered mental health issues including bipolar."

Recorder Patrick Harrington QC told Jones that he and Miss Davies had been seeing each other without going through the proper channels.

He said: "You were the subject of a restraining order and it was ignored by both of you because there has been a relationship.

"You have been seeing each other and the reality is that you have breached the order."

The court heard that Jones' outstanding suspended sentence was 16 months, suspended for two years.

Mr Harrington activated the suspended sentence but for breaching the restraining order he handed him a six-month custodial sentence discounted to four - which is to run concurrently with Jones' activated suspended sentence, meaning he is due to serve 16 months in custody.
