BANGOR-ON-DEE Racecourse has announced the winners of their best dressed competition.

Over 4,000 racegoers got into the weekend spirit early and enjoyed an afternoon of sunshine at Ladies Day on Friday.

In addition to the thrilling jump racing action on the track, attentions were focused on the other main event of the afternoon, the Ladies Best Dressed Competition which saw 132 stylish racegoers enter the competition.

It was judged by co-owner and founder of Old Port Spa Fiona Harrington-Wright, who painstakingly looked through the afternoon’s entries and finally arrived at a shortlist of ten.

The finalists were invited into the Parade Ring, where the winning trio were then crowned at 4pm before being invited into the entertainment suite to toast their success with a glass of champagne.

Third prize went to Alison Gwilliam, wearing a summer shift dress in a bold yellow colour. Accessories with nude court shoes, clutch and fascinator. Second runner up Sarah King, a racing enthusiast, sported a classic look with a longer length white dress, accompanied with black accessories including a show stopping fascinator to complete the monochrome look.

Both Sarah and Alison took home runner up bundle prizes that included a £20 spa voucher, a bottle of gin and two tickets each to the distillery and a £30 gift voucher for the Golden Square shopping centre.

After much deliberation the judges felt Debbie Pimlett was most deserved of first place position and Debbie was awarded a bundle of prizes including a spa package courtesy of Old Port Spa, a bottle of gin and four tickets to a distillery tour and a £50 gift voucher for the Golden Square shopping centre. Debbie’s winning ensemble consisted of a strapless sky-blue dress and co-ordinating nude clutch, fascinator and heeled sandals. Debbie, a regular visitor to Ladies Day at Bangor-on-Dee made the final last year and this year took the crown.
