A RETIRED boxer is to hold an event in aid of a good cause.

Jonathon Sellers is a two-weight British champion boxer in both welterweight and super welterweight titles.

Mr Sellers, a 35-year-old Flintshire Council refuse collector who lives in Buckley, had to retire from competitive boxing after tearing a ligament in his shoulder at work.

After becoming a coach and helping to run Wrexham Boxing Club he has now organised an evening of fights at The Tivoli, which will take place on August 25.

The event aims to raise money for the group 'parents of autism caring together' which supports parents across Flintshire.

Mr Sellers, who organised the event through The Universal Boxing Alliance (of which he is the Welsh representative and part owner), said: "When I injured my shoulder I was told I would not be boxing for a while, so I decided to get my coaching badges.

"I love it too much to walk away. On August 25 we will have a range of titles and we would love to hear form anyone interested in sponsoring a fight or the event - or putting a banner up on the night."

Doors will open at 5.30pm and the first fight is expected to begin at 6.30pm.

Tickets can be bought on the night or by emailing Mr Sellers at maverickboxing@yahoo.com
