POLICE are urging residents not to let bogus fish sellers swim away from the doorstep with their cash.

North Wales Police South Flintshire policing team have received reports from residents regarding suspicious fish sellers who are scaling their way around the region selling poor-quality fish.

According to the South Flintshire team, "this is not the first time they have been to town."

It is believed the sellers are from the Newcastle area and tend to target elderly residents.

One elderly resident was scammed into paying £200 for a parcel of fish which would cost around £15 at retail price, and the fish was extremely off and "rancid," South Flintshire officers said.

If anyone receives a cold call from someone selling fish, do not let them in, police advise.
