A POPULAR animal event saw a great turnout, organisers have said.

The NCAR (North Clwyd Animal Rescue) fun dog show which took place on July 1 and featured a range of activities for all ages.

A spokesman for the charity, which is based in Holywell, said: "We had an amazing turnout from our supporters and lots of beautiful dogs came along to join in with the show.

"This year we were fortunate with the weather as our usual dog shows we are fighting the rain off but this time it was trying to cool the dogs down as it was so warm. But it was a lovely day and lots of our ex-residents came to visit and we are just thankful to everyone for joining us on this lovely summer fun day.

"We raised an amazing amount considering how warm it was and everyone that attended had a lovely day, the final total was £2244.66.

"We also saw a lot of our current residents find their forever homes on the day which is always the best news and makes all the hard work worth it."

Nicky Owen, media and fundraising manager at NCAR, added: "It was a lovely day and we just want to thank everyone that came along to support the day and also to all the volunteers that attended on the day to help out and help us raise much needed funds for the charity.

"It's always a lovely event when we get to see so many happy dogs coming to visit and winning prizes.

"We hope you will continue to support the charity at future events throughout the year and please visit our website - www.ncar.org.uk to find out more about our charity and lovely animals still looking for loving homes."
