A FLINTSHIRE teenager has been selected to race in a national go karting championship.

Anna Morris, from Higher Kinnerton, will compete with current British and European champion Jade Racing Team in the Super One Kart Championship at Shenington Kart Club near Banbury in July.

Anna, 18, studies at Castell Alun High School and has been racing for 8 years. She started go karting at Hooton Park near Ellesmere Port and was Junior club Champion in 2014 and then Super One Rookie Champion in 2016 as a Senior.

Anna is by no means the only Morris to be involved with go karting, wither her to this point being a part of her family's Team Morris. This consists of Anna, her twin brother Richard and older sister Elinor, while father Nigel is chief mechanic.

But now racing for team Jade means she will be the recipient of some of the best equipment available and the guidance of Team Manager Scott Allen, himself a British champion. She will also learn from current World Champion Danny Keirle who has been a Jade Team member through all of his racing career and will be acting as driver coach when he is in the UK.

The Super One National Kart Championships have been in operation since 1983 and are regarded as the premier karting championship in the UK, once featuring British Formula 1 drivers Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button and David Coulthard.

Anna Morris said: ''I'm extremely excited to race in Super One Kart Championship and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for me racing with the current British Championship winning team, Jade Racing.

''My brother, Richard Morris, and sister, Elinor Morris both race as well and are benefitting hugely from the Jade engines. I am certain that I will improve being with the team and I am already benefitting hugely from their level of expertise.''

Anna's next championship race is on 22nd July at Shenington Kart Club.
