A VILLAGE is looking spick and span following a community spring clean.

Nercwys residents turned out in force and collected more than 40 bags of litter and waste from the village’s hedgerows and open spaces.

Organised by village resident Caroline Dawson, who works as a Menter a Busnes project officer, the event proved a big hit parents and children taking part.

Caroline says she was thrilled with the response and the amount of waste and litter collected.

She said: “I couldn’t be more pleased with the turnout and what we achieved. The village looks quite litter free until you get into the grass and hedgerows. I think everyone was amazed at the sheer volume of litter and rubbish we collected in such a short time.

“We found everything from fast food wrappings to car tyres. Of course it would help if people took their rubbish home with them.”

She added: “I’d also like to thank Mold Town Council who loaned us high visibility jackets and litter pickers. It was a fantastic community event and I hope it’s something we can repeat in the future.”

Flintshire Councillor Kevin Hughes said: “This was a fabulous community event organised by Caroline.

“Well done to everyone that turned out and did such an amazing job.

“The amount of waste and litter collected is staggering.I agree with Caroline, it would be so helpful if people just took their litter home with them.”
