AFTER being transformed into a restaurant a few years back, Pen y Bont Farm on the outskirts of Mold has become a popular destination for diners looking for quality food at a price that won't break the bank.

Its convenient location on Chester Road, friendly atmosphere and ample parking having helped to solidify the restaurant's popularity with diners from Flintshire and beyond.

The restaurant has a rustic but modern feel, and the staff were friendly and professional throughout our visit. My wife and I have visited before and very much enjoyed our meals, so we were looking forward to returning.

It is fair to say that we were not disappointed.

I opted for a chicken katsu curry, which was absolutely delicious. While there could have been a little more curry sauce, it was certainly very tasty - as were the panko-coated chicken and rice that came with it.

Amy tucked into a succulent bacon and cheddar cheese burger, along with a chorizo pinwheel.

The burger and pinwheel went down very well indeed, although I must confess to guzzling Amy's chips, as she is not exactly a fan of fries!

There were several young families enjoying their meals and there did not seem to be any complaints about their meals either.

It was easy to see why the place had such a good ambience, as the quality food was matched by family-friendly facilities, with a baby changing room and a children's play area.

Anyone looking for a well-cooked meal for a decent price could do a lot worse than checking out Pen y Bont Farm.
