THREE golf clubs are looking forward to greeting the many golfers who have entered the Gateway to Wales Spring Golf Festival at Northop, Hawarden and Holywell Golf Clubs on May 5,6 and 7.

The three day competition is open to both men and women with prizes for each day and also an aggregate prize of £100 covering the three day period for the best Stableford score with the title “ The Leader Gateway to Wales Golf Champion” sponsored by the Newsquest North Wales, publishers of the Leader. This event promoted by Gateway to Wales Golf and Flintshire County Council Leisure and Tourism seeks to attract golfing visitors to the fairways of Flintshire so providing a boost to the local economy. Entry forms can be downloaded from the respective clubs websites.

Matt Pritchard, professional from Northop Golf Club, said: “We will be available to provide any course tips that visitors might require. We are also hoping to encourage non players to take up the game through our ‘Spring Golf Taster Sessions,’ part of the New to Golf initiative launched by Wales Golf.”

These are designed to encourage the general public to have a go at taking up the game of golf , taster sessions are available free at Northop, Hawarden, Holywell, Old Padeswood, Mold and Padeswood and Buckley Golf clubs.
