Frustrated Holywell Town boss John Haseldin believes his side's impressive campaign has been derailed by 'freakish' weather.

The Wellmen have been hit harder than most by bad weather postponements, with their season now extended until mid May to accommodate their remaining seven league games.

Tonight's clash with basement side Llandudno Junction is a replay of the league game in February, which the Wellmen led 4-0 prior to the referee deeming the Halkyn Road pitch unplayable and abandoned the game.

Haseldin's men would have closed to within a point of leaders Caernarfon if the result had stood, but instead the gap has widened with Caernarfon now just two wins away from clinching the title.

Haseldin said: "It's a shame that it's worked out this way, because Caernarfon have been playing their games without any pressure on them at all really.

"We were on a really good run of form

"You can't control the weather, obviously, but it's freakish that we've been so unlucky with the number of cancellations we've had.

"It's a credit to our lads though that they've kept themselves and fit and motivated.

Their levels haven't dropped and we know that if we keep playing as well as we have been and we finish where we deserve to, then this can still be a very successful season for us.

Hilywell skipper Steve Thomas returns for tonight's game, while Garteh Sudlow, Ryan Davies Sam Jones and Josh Robertson are all in the squad.

Jack Pennington and Matty Kendrick miss the game.
