Reports of a person with a firearm in Wrexham turned out to be a hoax.
North Wales Police were called to an address at First Avenue, Gwersyllt at 11.55am on Wednesday to a report of someone in possession of a firearm.
A spokesman said: "Firearms officers were deployed to the area but it turned out to be a malicious call."
Police could not confirm the exact address where it was falsely claimed an incident had happened.
Members of the public took to social media to say that police were in the area.
Twitter user Steve Davies said that seven police cars were "having a briefing" at Lidl, while fellow Twitter user @Charl_Meh posted that officers were "all up First Avenue armed".
