HUW Griffiths has targeted six points from Technogroup Welshpool’s next two games, starting at Porthmadog on Saturday (2.30pm).

Welshpool were thrashed 5-1 at home to arch-rivals Newtown last week, but manager Griffiths remained upbeat ahead of the trip to the Traeth.

“It is a big pitch and one my lads will enjoy playing on,” said Griffiths. “Games are coming thick and fast so there is no point dwelling on past defeats.

“Against Newtown I felt the final score was a little harsh,” added Griffiths. “Steve Bellersby came in at late notice and pulled off some top saves.”

Goalkeeper Dave Maguire is racing to prove his fitness for the weekend, but Bellersby is on standby to step-in if needed.

Meanwhile Welshpool en-tertain Caersws on Tuesday night with revenge top of their list of priorities.

“They thrashed us up there earlier in the season, when they were physically superior across the park.

“We will be wary of this come Tuesday night, but we will not be setting our stall out for 90 minutes of defence,” added Griffiths.

“Our strength is in attack and we will once again go out with goals in mind.”
