MARK Griffiths was the hero with his 88th minute winner sealing the Bluebirds’ first win in the Welsh Premier in six months.

A failure to score in 270 minutes prior to kick-off needed to end for the Bluebirds to finally claw their way off the foot of the league table.

Fellow strugglers Druids are in turmoil with their delayed stadium development and budget cuts guaranteeing their demotion in two months time.

Caersws feared the worst when Jon Rush - son of Wales and Liverpool legend Ian - forced an early save from Dave Jones.

Home defender Hugh Clarke was then forced off through injury, with less then half an hour played.

However Caersws proceeded to dominate the first-half with only highly-rated home stopper Chris Mullock to stand in their way.

Mullock was a thorn in the Bluebirds side as he denied Phil Jones, after being released by Andy Davies, before frustrating Griffiths.

Ex-Cefn Druids midfielder Geraint Lewis should have broken the deadlock after the break, only to rattle the woodwork with a penalty, after Graham Jones was clipped in the area by Dan Barnett.

Jacob Smith had a good game following his arrival as Clarke’s replacement and crossed for Phil Jones to head wide.

Chris Melia also forced Mullock into action, before Smith threaded a superb throughball for Griffiths to guide past Mullock from a tight angle.
