LLANDYRNOG 4
YSCEIFIOG 1

AFTER suffering two defeats in their last three games, title favourites Llandyrnog will be pleased to return to the winner’s circle.

It promised to be a tough test at home to in-form Ysceifiog, but three first half goals settled any nerves Llandyrnog may have had.

“It was our worst performance of the season,” said disappointed Ysceifiog figure Danny Jones.

“On a Monday or Tuesday we tend to be lacklustre, but this is the worst.”

Ysceifiog found themselves behind the eight-ball in just two minutes as wideman Danny Roberts gave Llandyrnog the lead and the league leaders managed to double their advantage via Josh Davies’ 12th goal of the summer, benefiting from an assist by goalkeeper Iain Robertson.

Despite their promising start, the Cae Nant hosts didn’t have things all their own way and Ysceifiog pulled a goal back.

It was Danny Jones who netted from close range after a mix-up in the home defence.

According to Llandyrnog assistant boss Jimmy McNally: “We had plenty of chances in the second half and it just wouldn’t go in for us.”

They did finally find the back of the net again, though, with Cruz scoring his second of the night to take his personal tally for the campaign up to an impressive 11 goals.

Cruz also went close to a hat-trick, only to be denied via a stunning save from Ysceifiog keeper Chris House.

“It was a great result for us, just what we needed,” added McNally.

For Llandyrnog, Tom “Moe” Evans was man of the match.

Defender Dan Davies was the stand-out performer for the Flintshire side.
