RHEWL 3
YSCEIFIOG 3

DRAW specialists Rhewl were at it again on Monday!

Pete Lloyd’s charges had to settle for their fourth draw in nine games this season as they shared six goals with Ysceifiog.

But the hosts will feel they should have recorded their fourth win of 20111 after enjoying a healthy lead at half-time.

Ysceifiog’s Danny Jones admitted: “It was a frustrating game, really.

“A lot of us still had weekend heads on for various reasons!

“We never really got going, playing into the wind in the first half.”

Rhewl were good value for their 3-1 interval lead as they put Ysceifiog under plenty of pressure.

The visitors’ only bright spot in the first half came when Simon Holloway popped up with an equaliser to make it 1-1, but after that Rhewl struck twice more to take a comfortable lead into the interval.

Rob Thomas latched on to a long clearance from keeper Bryn Jones to break the deadlock, while Martin Jones’ header put the home side back in front.

And before the break, Anthony Marshall’s successful free kick gave Rhewl some breathing space.

“In the second half we probably had the better of possession and the chances,” added Jones.

For most of the half Rhewl remained in the lead, but they were forced to settle for a share of the points when Ysceifiog man of the match Holloway completed his first hat-trick of the campaign on the back of a couple of late strikes.

For Rhewl, Bryn Jones, centre back Elis Owen and midfielder Anthony Marshall were the star men.
