CAERWYS 1
HENLLAN 2

IN FORM Henllan bagged their fourth successive Summer League triumph, although basement side Caerwys will feel they deserved at least a point for their efforts.

The Flintshire hosts took the lead on 20 minutes and looked to be good value for their advantage, but Henllan hit back strongly - and quickly - to climb into the top six.

“It wasn’t a great performance and we huffed and puffed and trickled over the line,” admitted Henllan boss Chris Brown.

“To be fair to Caerwys, they probably felt they deserved something from the game.”

Joint-Caerwys boss John Owens agreed with this sentiment and he said: “I think we certainly deserved a point.

“It was probably one of our best battling performances of the season.”

Caerwys enjoyed a bright start to the night and impressive 16-year-old Ruari Wood had them in front with an effort from the right hand side of the box.

However, just five minutes after Caerwys took the lead, Henllan were back on level terms.

Tom Sheridan found the target to make it one-apiece and things got even better for Henllan after half-an-hour when Rob Jennings gave them the lead.

Impressive figures for Caerwys on the night were goalkeeper Dyfan Davies and striker Nick Voyle, while Jake ‘Yog’ Spencer was immense at the back.

“I think, if I was being honest, we were maybe running on a bit of empty after last Thursday,” added Brown.
