A FAMILY who captured burglars stealing expensive bikes and golf clubs on CCTV have been left “gutted”.

Police are appealing for information after the bikes, and also a set of Callaway golf clubs, were stolen from a shed at a property on Kinnerton Close in Saltney.

The daughter of the residents, who wished to remain anonymous, has posted CCTV footage of the thief on social media. She says her parents have not slept well since it happened.

She said: “I spoke to my mum this morning and both herself and my dad are pretty shook up after seeing the CCTV. They haven’t been sleeping so well.

“It happened on Saturday, and from the CCTV footage, he first enters the street at about 2.40am.

“He goes behind the garages at the end of the road and seems to have a good look around the street. It is only by chance he happens to look down our drive on his way out of the road to see our side gate had been blown open by the wind, which meant he could see the shed at the back of the garden.

“He then goes into the back garden for about nine minutes before leaving – only to return 40 minutes later with what we can only imagine as a screwdriver to open the shed.”

She said the shed already had two padlocks on it but the thief had broken the hinges.

The brazen burglar is then seen at around 3.30am riding out of the street on one bike while pushing the other.

She says the intruder returns at around 4.50am and bends underneath the tree in the front garden to steal golf clubs he had moved and some other items he had taken earlier on.

The offender is described as a white and thin man, wearing black Adidas trainers with white stripes at the time.

He was also wearing a gilet, hoody and a cap.

“We strongly believe he is from the Saltney/Lache area as it only took him 40 minutes to get to wherever he was to come back with tools to break open the shed,” the daughter added.

One of the bikes stolen is a white and black Specialised Sirrus Elite men’s bike, with an attachment on the handlebars to hold a phone.

There is also a combination chain lock just underneath the seat which they will not be able to remove. The other cycle is a black Specialised women’s bike.

In total, both bikes cost around £1,000 and the golf clubs set are estimated to cost about £700.

“My dad also noticed last night, after having a closer look after police had taken photos, that his leaf blower had also been stolen which we hadn’t noticed in the CCTV as the neighbours have only given us the first time he came and when he returned – so we think he came back for a third time.

“The smaller things he can claim for but it’s the bikes he’s gutted about as he might not be able to get the same again with them being Specialised.”

A North Wales Police spokesman said: “The offender entered the rear of the garden by the looks of it and forced his way into the shed and removed two pedal cycles and a some Callaway golf clubs.

“Nobody has been arrested at this time.”

The incident happened between 8pm on Saturday and 7.30am on Sunday.

If anyone has any information and noticied any suspicious activity, or have been offered these bikes for sale, they should contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference number RC17027542.
